JEAN CLOTHWe have been phasing in BRI Jean Wool since Jan. of 2005. It has taken us that long to use all the Kline's we had in stock. Now almost 13 years later, even our most demanding customers have been thrilled with the quality of our garments. We have shipped thousands of garments made from our new jean to our customers here in the states and around the world and have not had a single one returned due to unsatisfactory cloth. They are available in three different colors. Taupe on brown, taupe (light gray) color wool yarn woven with brown cotton yarn which gives the cloth a nice light brown tint. Natural gray jean wool, gray wool yarn woven with gray cotton yarn. (It's gray, I don't know how else to explain it). Brown jean wool, brown wool yarn woven with brown cotton yarn. The photo below is of 3 jean cloth vests. This will give you some idea of the colors but remember the color may look different depending on the monitor you use to view it.

BLUE JEAN WOOL PANTS"But Jerry, Confederates didn't wear blue!" Give me a break, if you've read the book, "That Terrible Sound", then you know that some credit for the Union line faltering at Chickamauga has to be given to the South Carolina Regt. who were dressed in brand new blue uniforms. The union held their fire (thinking the SC boys were Union) until it was toooooo late. Anyway these are great pants and they will add a little variety to your kit. A CS Regt. MULE EAR PANTSBUTTERNUT BROWN!They of course have mule ear pockets. They have 4 hole tin with paper back buttons (sewn on) for the fly and for the suspenders. If you like we will include the correct amount of bone buttons at no charge. You will have to change them out yourself. The inner waist band is made of a heavy cotton that has a very homespun look. Dr. John Farris, acting as hospital steward / assistant surgeon for the 41st Tenn. Inf. in a letter to his wife Mary writes the following; Camp Cold Water near Holly Springs Miss. Tues. Oct. 28, 1862 I went to town today and mailed a letter to you and your father. When you get yours, you will think that I was out of humor on account of not receiving letters from home. I returned from Holly Springs about sunset, and when I got to the Regt. I found the boys all in uniforms which they had drawn. Their pants were all sky blue; their coats grey round about with cuff and collars trimmed in blue. Grey caps for all. This will add much to their appearance on the field, though taken their uniforms all into consideration, it is quite common and coars. (spelling is as it appears in the letter.) Our standard Infantry trousers are available in Confederate or Richmond gray. Federal or sky blue wool. Also available in butternut. Our infantry trousers come with pewter buttons for the fly and suspenders. They are included in price and sewn on. The Union trousers have straight pockets while the Confederate trousers have mule ear style pockets. They have the split waist band design with a leather thong in the back for a small amount of waist size adjustment.

Our mounted cavalry trousers are available "off the rack" in sky blue wool. They come with the pewter fly and suspender buttons sewn on. The trousers have straight pockets They have the split waist band design with a leather lace in the back for a small amount of waist size adjustment.
As with all of our garments we can make anything you like, special request are welcome but any variation will be considered a custom order, there is no return and figure on 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. Our jean wool vests are cut on the same military pattern as the wool vest above. They have a 3 pocket front with 9 buttons. Normally, we use wooden buttons on our jean vest. There is an adjustment strap in the back. Lined and backed with 100% cotton. You have to make 2 choices to buy a vest. You will need a piercing buckle for the adjustment tabs on the back of your vest.
