BRAND 100 CT. #028-A $9.95 BUY NOW! HICK'S US MUSKET CAPS
Hick's sold out to the American Cap & Flask company in 1856 and I think this is a transitional tin (as US fl. & cap is mentioned on the lid) dating it to around 1858 / 59. I am doing some speculating here as the information I've been able to find is sketchy at best. But what really pushed me over the edge was when The Sam Davis Home Museum in Smryna Tn. put a musket cap tin identified to a Confederate soldier just like this one on display. It had been used by the soldier for a (sewing kit) housewife. Just goes to show you that those boys did not throw away anything that could be re-used. The photo shows the tin very close to actual size. It stands almost 2 inches tall and is 2 inches across. The joints and side seam are soldered just as the original. # 2334-A $11.95 BUY NOW! ELEY (of) LONDON PERCUSSION CAP TIN
Remember our ancestors did not live in the throw away society that we do today. Anything that could be re-used was kept and recycled, they just called it common sense though. So as you can imagine tins like this were used over and over. Now I can come up with lots of things to use it for, how about your daily med.s? axle grease, vaseline, that extra musket nipple or hammer screw you can never find when you need it, extra buttons, sewing thread and needle, need I go on? Eley Percussion Caps were imported before the war and continued to be imported in the North throughout the war as well as entering the South via the Blockade Runners. The next time you are at one of our larger relic shows just take a look at any of the presentation cases for pistols, You'll very often find a tin of Eley caps included in the case. Now as you can see from the photo the original is darker in color as they were jappaned to prevent rusting. Our repro here has been tinned to prevent rusting but if you wish a darker appearance you can do that using the modern equivalent of jappaning which is shellac with a little lamp black added. # 2334 $4.95 BUY NOW! ENFIELD BAYONET DE-FARB
We now have an excellent copy of the original Enfield Bayonet. Each one has been fitted to either an Armisport or a Euroarms 1853 Rifled Musket. The bayonet for the Euroarms will also fit originals as they have the same size barrel. These bayonets fit like they were supposed to.
No loose play at all! But not so tight that it prematurely wears the bluing from the end of your barrel. Each bayonet socket is salt blued just as the originals. The retainer ring is made from machined steel, not stamped like so many you see on the market today. The Armisport bayonets have the correct English stamps. Now available with the "Salter" Company stamp. This bayonet is the same as discribed above but it has the private company stamp of "Salter". This stamp is thought by many to the most common among Confederate purchased marked bayonets.

I'm not completely convinced that all the info that is circulating is correct. I will tell you what I am confident of and I will continue to search and post any further facts here for your consideration. We do know that there are existing examples of this scabbard out there credited to be of US manufacture for the Union troops. Some say pre-war, others say they are war date. We know for a fact that many of the existing CS manufacture scabbards were sewn with no rivets as brass and copper could be put to better use. I have no problem using this scabbard either way but I especially like it for CS use. ITEM # 061-B $29.95 BUY NOW! BROWN BESS BAYONET

This is actually a pre-war design and is still used today. They are cast directly from an original set dug from the Battle of Murfreesboro Tenn. That's the Battle of Stones River if you live north of the Mason / Dixon line. They're cast from solid brass and look great. The spear is almost 8 inches long and both the spear and the end cap holes are 3/4 of an inch.
